The Royal Couple are visiting Northern Ireland as part of a tour of the country.
The term "fashion icon" gets overused tremendously and even we have to admit that it might be a bit premature in Kate's case, but consider this. She wore this chic-as-hell Burberry coat on a recent trip to Ireland and according to The Cut, that very coat immediately sold out on Burberry's web site.
If she's not a fashion icon, she's well on her way to becoming one, because as far as we're concerned, the term refers to someone whose style is so influential, she can get masses of women to immediately covet anything she wears. We'll go even further (and risk the cries for our heads): she's poised to outdo the revered Diana on that front. Before you shriek, consider this: there were no fashion blogs or twitter or social media (or even much in the way of websites) back in Diana's day.
It seems quaint now, but prior to the 21st Century, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people didn't have almost instantaneous access to pictures of celebrities within minutes of their appearance. In Diana's day, there weren't opportunities for thousands of people to comment and assess everything she wore every single day, sometimes at the same moment she's wearing it. If Kate continues tantalizing the fashionistas and getting masses of women to buy the clothes she wears, then she's going to be a fashion superstar before she hits 30. Count on it.
And the coat's adorable, right? Girl's got taste.
