I don't want a boring DVD. I want Lion to come on one of those cool MacBook Air-style memory sticks, only compatible with ThunderBolt.

I too think a USB installation stick would be cool, but easy to lose, I'd imagine! On the flip-side, you can scratch DVDs.

The combined line-in/out jack on the newest Macs certainly DOES supply a small amount of power for the mic built into the iPhone headphones. The separate line in port on older Macs doesn't, but the headphone port does supply power (on my 2009 MBP at least). It's not the same amount of power as the mic port on PCs, but it's similar. The mic on an analogue headset designed for a PC has never worked on a Mac. The old Plaintalk mics back in the beige Mac days used to have a really long connector, so the tip would touch the power part of the socket in the Mac.


Once again, I was never talking about the audio out port that also has mic capabilities for iPhone headsets that there are very few of. I was talking about the line-in jack that is useless and does not support power for a typical headset.

ok in the last 2 days, my ps3 has folded 9 WU's in the same time my G5 has managed 68% on it's first WU :O the G5 is being turned off for now lol will resume main machine folding when i get my mac pro

Are you sure it's not a big unit that is worth a lot of points?

Apple would benefit greatly by offering this form factor, in addition to its current model. Exactly what BlackBerry users rely on, the response would be fantastic.

That said, sadly Apple seems to have a true death grip on its narrow minded position of restricting the iPhone to one model only.

I am new here to the forum and was wondering if anyone could advise why only some of my contacts have matched accross?

Is it due to the fact that some of my numbers start +44 in my phonebook and they may start 07.... in facebook??

not sure what credentials it uses to compare and match the different phonebooks i.e name, number ect.

anyone know? :D

Thats a tough one...while a non-apple device will sell better with an airplay compatible badge, its hard to argue that the opposite will drive more sales of iPads. Sorry folks, pay the Apple.

this is a brilliant idea... but honestly, i would let competitors struggle for another 8 years before i let AIRPLAY on other devices...

b/c this could potentially generate interest in competitors... or it could allow apple to pull profits from competitors who will ultimately FAIL to generate enough interest

think about it... other competitors would probably get their devices integrated with itunes so that they can HOME SHARE AIRPLAY to their phones/tablets/etc..

apple will make a profit for just providing access to airplay.... the problem is if if the competitor becomes more popular or as popular as apple... would the competitor throw apple a bone?! i dont think so

Powerpoint no longer spews weird error messages instead of animated my complicated and lengthy presentation, so that's a plus.

Now let's see if Word still crashes when searching for text it can't find when the document has lots of tables...

Cases just ruin it.

I think the iPhone 4 looks great without a case....but it drops calls without the damn bumper!

how bout let's make sure that airplay video playback works first before you try to license it out. has not work from day 1 on my appletv

Works perfectly for me (using Air Video and the latest beta server) since 4.3 came out.

Best Buy and Radio Shack both have iphones in stock and for sale, kinda funny AT&T made a mistake like that when trying to order one.

Agreed we are spoiled. Unfortunately the U.S. has a horrible infrastructure as far as public transportation and such so many people live far from their jobs and have to drive everywhere.

Awesome, I love it! I want to sign up for .Mac so bad, but I can't justify it being worth $99 per year. I would gladly pay $49 per year, especially since I would use iWeb, Photocasting, and all the other good stuff.

I envision a market for some sort of faraday cage in an iPhone carrying case though grounding it maybe a challenge.

After-seller small business opportunity, become a chip remover or disabler perhaps.

Either way I don't care what the end use is if the US army take apple on i'll be put of buying Apple stuff. It's purely political!

The Army already uses Apple stuff. So I guess you'll never buy Apple.

Or Microsoft. Or Linux. Heck, the Army uses almost everything you can think of. Including electronics from probably every company you've heard of.

While you're at it, better check the tags in your clothes. And don't eat boxed or canned or frozen foods either, those companies also make military rations.

As a child of the 50s and 60s, I sympathize with your politics. As an Army veteran, I can tell you that you're barking up the wrong tree. Fight the politicians who go to war, not the war materials or their users... because there are times that you will really need them, and need them to be the best.

It's pretty clear that the lens is in a deeper "well" in the white model. This is consistent with the rumor that light was impinging on the camera in the white model. What you need to do is limit all light that isn't coming from directly in front of the lens. No light from the side, and definitely no light from the inside of the camera. The way to fight it if you have an SLR? Invest in an old fashioned thing called a bellows, which shields the lens from any light that isn't coming from the area you can focus on, and which doesn't do anything but add glare or make blacks in the picture more like dark gray. This deeper camera acts like a bellows, I presume, blocking any light coming through the white, more translucent body.

I'm going to get one, but why can't we get the 3DS XL now? I started wearing glassess last year, so now I'm no longer a fan of tiny screens. :o

1680x1050 pixels in the 13" would be nice. Retina is preferable, but a bit too much to hope for... at least within the next 1.5 - 2 years
