Are you saying you're happy it costs $99? You don't want to pay less, no? The more complaining and bad feedback we give Apple that this service is simply too expensive the better, and the better chance we have they will begin to pay attention to loads (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=.Mac%20too%20expensive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) of posts/blogs/and stories on this. I feel sick when I have to tell someone how much it costs. I mean they say .Mac syncing is included! You have to pay to sync computers that you payed money for, and worse still you have to give it to the company you bought the computers from?? Give me a break! GMail is free too. iWeb provides little bandwidth, and the whole this is wrapped-up with a tiny storage package. And I don't think the solution is for Apple to give us more storage. I would prefer a cheaper price to more storage any-day. If you want moe storage then you pay $99, otherwise this should cost no more than $49 per year. At the VERY MOST!!

Well, now Apple's onto your little scheme and they'll NEVER charge less!

Seriously, though, I doubt Apple cares what people are saying on the MacRumors forum. I'd of course like them to up the storage too, and what I really want is a spam filter in the webmail. It's why I never check my .mac account anymore. Way too much spam.

I have my iPhoto library backed up to an external hard drive, but I was thinking of uploading the whole thing online as well for added insurance. I was going to use Flickr because I already have an account there, but is there anywhere that's better? Are there any limits to how many pictures I can upload or how I can use them afterward?

I have an old 2006 MBP 17" 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB RAM. Game runs slow on the "recommended settings" which puts the majority of the settings on Low. Tried bumping up the resolution which caused the game to crash when the match began.

I'm not happy with the performance of the game on my Mac however it handles the game better than my 2008 Dell Precision laptop running XP. Time to upgrade my MBP.

I would say the app has some potential but needs a lot of work. No need to name all the issues since they are obviously already mentioned in the thread.

I encountered a lot of "WTF?"-style behavior quirks with Garmin myself. It does the job, but the deal-breaker for me is that the volume slider in settings sets both your device volume, and the speech volume. So you either deal with quiet music, or very loud instruction if you are using your phone to also play music.

It handles drop-outs of network fine, but requires you to be on the network to get a route planned, and you can't pre-plan a route. So if you are say, planning a camping trip, you will only get GPS direction one way if the camp site is out of cell service (like mine usually are).

    Ummm...no.

Consumer Reports was clearly pageview trolling with the iPhone 4.

They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.
How does that make any sense?

Because the signal attenuation due to the design was abnormally high. 20-25dB attenuation that can be accomplished by simply touching the tip of your pinky finger on the gap or in the normal position when making calls. That is a design problem and something that should not have made it out of QC.

Overall it is a fantastic device, albeit with an antenna issue. People who only use the phone in very strong signal areas won't notice or be bothered by it. For a majority of people who live in those areas and only use the phone in those areas it isn't problematic. But you either accept what reality is or continue to delude yourself into thinking that there is no design problem with the antenna. It's a simple black and white issue.

If I was using an IOS device for my phone I'd have no problem buying an Iphone 4 because I understand its limitations going in. I wouldn't be insane enough to claim that because I had no signal issues in my daily use that it was evidence there was no attenuation problem.

So what do you think it should have?

Will only a redesign make it a real new phone? I think its great that Apple has had three good designs now. Some build up is necessary, otherwise the public will only look for redesigns and nothing else.

It will be a new phone with updated specs and maybe the casing. That's all it needs. When I said "that's about it," it wasn't a negative thing. When it comes to an iPhone, if they made those enhancements, that's plenty to guarantee another year of success. Especially alongside iOS 5.

PilotWings is my biggest let down. There's nothing that 'bad' about it - it's just that it doesn't have the magic of past pilotwings.

This seems to be the demo title - is that because it's mearly a 3D version of Pilot Wings 64?

Seems to be the same as the N64 version when I was doing Free Flight on the Island.

Want to see what Starfox is like, though I heard it's also the same as the N64...

When I check for updates in outlook it tells me 'no updates available' ... oh well, downloading it now directly from the webpage linked in the article.Perhaps it doesn't detect the update unless you use Outlook. Some MS Office users, like me, don't even install Outlook, and Check for Updates didn't show it for me either.

Moving from Outlook is a good think no matter what. The databases used stinks. It chokes at about a million records and sooner or later, it will slow down, become lazy and before you know it... done. Corrupted... just like a US politician. :D
I find that it corrupts the database when it reaches 2GB in storage, no matter how many messages are involved.

You know, it's entirely possible she was just being friendly to you when she chatted you up outside the store. If she'd just left work, she was probably still in a "friendly be nice to customers mode". Especially if you'd just purchased something, she might have seen you as a future high ticket customer and thought she'd just greet you for a moment, you'd just talked and she figured, why be rude? A lot of people in retail have a "friendly" demeanor that is used on customers, and does not indicate a willingness to sleep with their customers. One of my employees has a real problem with this, she goes above and beyond to help a customer, and they interpret it as being more than just helpful. On more than one occasion she has done exactly what this apple employee has done, hiding in our back offices or sort room until the customer leaves. I hate to tell you this, but it sounds like she was trying to be nice, and now she's weirded out because her niceness has gone too far. If she hid TWICE, that's probably what it is.
But, just to be positive, maybe she's been getting in trouble for socializing while at work, and she can't be seen flirting with you while she's working. I just didn't want to steal all your hope.

Update away. Those of you running illegal copies of the WWDC (torrent) will be happy to know that your IP and other system/contact info is automatically logged and forwarded to Apple Legal by the Leopard Software Update.

The lack of physical keyboard and the fact that is runs on a phone OS really makes the iPad useless for school purpose. I just can see anybody writing long essays on a screen (thumb input) keyboard. Having a real OS takes advantage of already developed software (and stable) and there are tons of them out there for every needs. Whereas an iPad software still needs to be developed. Other things like web research while writing notes can not be done on an iPad. All of these issues a laptop already solves and much more. Any new function an iPad have can easily be created on a laptop.

Frankly, an iPad is only good for is viewing media and even at that its pretty bad. Imagine holding an iPad upright to watch a two hour movie.

I remember reading on Best Buy Canada's website that if you pre-order the game you get access to the Beta... I wonder if that goes for Mac too or just PC. But yeah, I can't wait to see how well it will end up running on the 13" MBP with the "killer graphics"!

Preorder the game from gamestop and you get a beta key also.

The Liberals deserved it, they need a new leader and this is a big wake up call. The NDP deserved what they received as well. But thankfully we won't waste more of taxpayers money on elections until 2015!

I don't follow canadian politics much, can someone tell me aboot the main ideological differences between liberals and conservatives in canada? eh?

I don't think anyone doubts the machine can do the expose effect (the iPad 1 does it in Safari just fine).

There are plenty of reasons it might have been turned down for their final switcher implementation. One, the final iOS allows a variable number of programs to remain open depending on their memory requirements. The expose implementation implies that 9 can be open. That's inconsistent UI. Two, as others have mentioned, you can't always tell the difference between apps at a glance from little screenshots. So they went with icons in the end.

It can be scrollable. And can't icons just be overlaid in the corner a'la Lion Mission Control?

Grrrrr, I can't decide. Looks like I'll probably get the 32GB.. 399 + $45 taxes. Anyone think $444 worth it for the older 32 or do better deals exist? I'm somewhat convinced since it is new.

I'm debating this as well. I think I'm just going to end up buying the Ipad 2 16gb for $100 more. I don't need 32gb.

It's funny how the capitalists are all for a free market...until it starts working against them.
Before I comment on the story - this is the free market in play. This appears to be a business dispute, not governmental involvement. The free market requires communication between businesses to maximize profits.

As for Target - this doesn't surprise me. No matter what people say about Wal-Mart, the WM return and service policy is golden. With Target, we got nothing but crap over our attempt to return a $17 sandwich maker that we got as a wedding present, but didn't need. WM doesn't carry it, otherwise we would have returned it there. Instead, T has determined that I must return it to them for an e-certificate (where they will deduct the cost of shipping - $7, I believe) that I can use to buy any item from their on-line store (plus shipping - about $7), netting me a gift of $3.

    Worst. Service. Ever.
