Beckham has been a key backer of the event and was present as an official ambassador in Singapore in 2005 when London was handed the Olympics for the third time -- becoming the first city to do so in the modern era. He remained coy about his possible involvement with Team GB, preferring to focus on his nomination of 18-year-old Gabriella Roseje as one of 8,000 torch bearers for the pre-Olympics relay next year.
"My goal is first I want to be a fan at the Olympics and support our Team GB to win as many medals, to win as many gold medals, and to make our country proud, which they will do because we've got so many great young athletes that have been around for a while," Beckham, also an ambassador for 2012 sponsor Samsung, told CNN.
"So, it's an exciting time, and with my involvement I just want to be a part of it. For it to be in the East End of London is a proud moment for myself, and to be there with my sons, possibly my daughter, my wife, it's going to be a proud moment for not only myself but for many people in this country."
Beckham said people like Roseje, from the south-east London area of Bermondsey, represented a bright future for British sport. "It's what she does for other people is one of the reasons I've sat up and taken notice in the special things that she's done," he said.
"It's young people like Gabriella that are going to be inspired by the Olympics in our country. People are going to be looking at Gabriella thinking, 'How can I achieve what she's achieving, how can I do something that she's doing by helping so many young people? Not just athletes but kids around the world and especially in the UK, what she is doing for her charity and what she is doing for young kids. These kids look up to this young lady and that's inspiring. That's what the Olympics can do, not just in this country but all around the world, and that's why our country will make this Olympics one of the best, if not the best Olympics of all time."
Beckham said he is happy in the United States, where he plays for Los Angeles Galaxy and lives with his wife Victoria, sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz -- and his imminent first daughter.
"I've had such an exciting career so far ... when it will end, who knows. I continue to enjoy my football like I'm doing, I love playing. Until that changes, then I'll continue to play whether that will be here or in the U.S. I'm enjoying my time playing for the Galaxy and have no reason to move anywhere else."
Beckham is still a regular visitor to the UK, and was a guest at the Royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton in April. "They're an amazing couple that a month ago made our country so proud to see their amazing occasion," he said. "To have watched Prince Harry and Prince William grow up from such a young age and go through what they have gone through -- it was such an amazing occasion for our country. To be part of that was incredible."

Craig Asked David, "Did you get any on your business?" to which Beckham shot back with a: "Not yet." He also admitted that his mother Sandra doesn't appreciate his love of tattoos.
Becks also got to chatting about the President of the United States, Barack Obama. He met him at a dinner in London last week and described him as "amazing". At that dinner, he also spoke with Queen Elizabeth who shocked him with knowing about Victoria's pregnanacy. He said: "Funnily enough she knew I was having a baby in six weeks. It shocked me that she knew. I love the Queen."

With the league's best player (Landon Donovan) and a powerful striker (Juan Pablo Angel), this probably is Beckham's best chance to win his first MLS crown.
Page 2 had a chance to talk with the soccer legend about the sport, his family and his new tattoo:
1. In Europe, you had a lot of success. You've been close here but haven't won it all. How tough is that for you?
"It's not difficult at all. I had the weight of the league on my shoulders when I arrived here. I had to carry the flag for the sport in this part of the world. But this game is something I've always enjoyed. It's been a great challenge. This is something I'm totally passionate about. I've seen improvements in the American game. We have some new teams coming into the league. In certain areas, the attendance is up. When I see all this, it makes me proud. Since Day 1, I've been proud to be part of this league. I came to the United States to win a championship. I still want to do that."
2. You've had some injuries the past few years which has limited your play. Is soccer still fun for you?
"I know it's easy for me to say this because I have gotten paid so much money to play, but I've always enjoyed playing soccer. It's never a job to me. I know it might sound silly but I would be doing this if I wasn't getting paid. It's never been about the money. I've helped raise the profile of this league. I think we've been successful. It's going to take more years here to equal the level of the European leagues. I've had some injuries and I'm 35 years old. I've worked hard in the offseason to get my body right."
3. You have always been in the spotlight. Are you tired of the paparazzi?
"We've had it for quite a few years. You actually get used to it. You come to terms with it that it's just part of your life. I've never really complained about it except when it affects my children. That, to me, is when it crosses the line. I've been with Victoria for 14 years and married for 12. So I know the deal. But we're very protective of our children. Thankfully, our children are very grounded. They say 'please' and 'thank you'. They know how to handle the situations. We're trying to keep their lives as normal as possible."
4. Do you and Victoria read the tabloids?
"I literally don't. I don't even really notice when people take my picture. I don't worry about seeing the end product. We haven't had it that bad in the United States. But just last week when we were in London, these aggressive photographers were jumping on our cars. I'm watching this realizing that my wife is pregnant and I just wanted to get out of there."
5. A lot has been made about your recent tattoo. What was it like?
"I wasn't planning on getting another tattoo. I've had a lot done. But I heard all these great things about legendary artist Mark Mahoney, so he created this tattoo of Jesus being lifted by three cherubs [for Beckham's three children]. It took about 12 hours over two days."
5a. So with a little girl on the way, thinking of adding to that tattoo?
"Uh, I'm not so sure about that."

Tim: What are you doing to prepare yourself for Tuesday's match against Seattle? How do you feel about this season' s team?
David: I'm excited to be honest. It's one of those games that you look forward to. Seattle is a great franchise. It's one of the atmospheres that's closest to a European game. I'm excited. I'm ready for the season. I wanted to make sure my fitness was right, that's why I went to Tottenham. I've been working hard.
Brian: What country has better food, England or the U.S.?
David: There's definitely more variety in the U.S. I've always loved coming to the U.S. and eating traditional American food. But there's a lot I miss about London and England food.
Steve: How is the health? Will you be ready for teh start of the season?
David: Yeah, I would say I'm 100% right now. Last season was difficult with the injury. I've had certain points of the game where I had some difficulty with pain. But I've worked hard this season and gotten my body back to where it needs to be. I'm very close.
Chris: David, where did you come up with the art idea for your new tattoo? how painful was it to get that tattoo?
David: It was almost altogether a 12 hour session. The first 8 hours was one session and I went back a week later to get it touched up. It wasn't painful at all. I don't mind the pain, to be honest, with the tattoos. It was something that I had never had a tattoo done in the U.S. I knew about Mark and his work. Knew how good he was. He looked at my other tattoos and knew what I liked. The majority of my tattoos are family orientated or has a meaning. Three cherubs for my three sons. It has a religious feel. That's what I like.
Vinny Baker: do you want to play in England again before you finish your career ?
David: Who knows. I had a great career in England for 12-13 years. I've always said that I never wanted to play for another English club, because Manchester United is such a great club. I'm getting older now and I don't have many years left. This is my last contract year, but who knows what will happen.
Brighid: How has playing in the MLS affected you as a player?
David: Ithink it has affected me in a good way. I've been able to experience playing in another country. The experience I've had in the game, I've tried to bring to the game. I've seen the growth of the game the last few years. Iv'e enjoyed that.
Reid: Mr. Beckham, what were your first thoughts when you transitioned to the MLS?
David: I was excited. I always knew it was going to be a challenge. Soccer not being the No. 1 sport in this country, it's always going to be a challenge to raise the profile of it. I always said it won't happen over night, it will happen in 5-10 years. Over time it will get to be one of the better leagues. That's an exciting prospect. There is no reason that can't happen over time.
MartaMUFC: What was your relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson?
David: My relationship with him was always great. In any job, you have your moments with the manager or the owners of the team. I probably had two moments where it was probably highlighted in the press more than what was going on. He was a father figure to me, still is, he gave me my first chance to play for the club that I love.
Eric G: At your age, how do you maintain the condition you are in?
David: I've been lucky throughout my career. I've always looked out for myself. Gotten my rest when I need to. I'm a determined person. I'm determined to look after myself. At 35 to be able to play at a high level, I consider myself lucky.
George: What do you hope your legacy will be as a player?
David: Obviously, I'm hoping that people remember me as a football player that's had success in not just one country but two countries. Winning 6 championships in Manchester, winning with Real, some success in L.A.
And David's closing words...
I just want to say thank you for the support. I've had so much support in this country both on and off the field. I've enjoyed playing for the Galaxy. It's been incredible. Thank you to the fans. Please continue to support.

Victoria Beckham recently mentioned in an interview that she and her family were learning some sign language to better communicate with a family friend. News of this made its way around the world at warp speed. Of course the quick “easy sell” were the “funny” aspects; that the kids were learning naughty words, etc., over looking a greater message. When Victoria and I discussed this in person, she mentioned that she really had hoped to communicate something different. She was proud and excited to be learning about Deaf Culture and had only hoped that her mention of this would inspire others interest in Sign Language/Deaf Culture.
After writing an article about Victoria, they also conducted a mini-interview that consisted of the following 10 questions..
PS: What does silence mean to you?
VB: Although silence can be extremely powerful and peaceful at certain times, I can also imagine silence could be a very lonely place.
PS: Have you ever felt silenced, by someone else, a situation, or by the world, that your voice did not matter? When and how?
VB: Many times at school when I was younger and bullied by the other children I felt silenced and that my voice didn’t matter.
PS: How did this (above) make you feel?
VB: Lonely and scared.
PS: How did you find the strength to go against the limits that were imposed upon you?
VB: I focused on my strengths and my love of dance. I also focused on my family life with my parents, sister and brother.
PS: How do you stand up for yourself on a daily basis?
VB: I just tried to keep out of the way ignore the negatives and focus on my family and schoolwork.
PS: What do you feel is your greatest quality?
VB: I’m a really good mother and wife, because my family is everything to me.
PS: How are you most misunderstood?
VB: Most people in my position are misunderstood, because some people tend to believe whatever they read in the media, they don’t know the real me. As you get older your priorities change and you learn to focus on what is important, I am a positive and happy person, someone who believes the glass is half full, never half empty.
PS: Please define yourself?
VB: I’m a very focused, loving, caring and passionate person. I treat other people how I would like to be treated. That’s the way I was brought up and how I try to bring up my own children. I’m a spiritual person and I believe in the power of positive energy, I put out there what I would like to get back. I consider myself really blessed and I want to share my voice and help as many people as I can. That is why I have agreed to do this interview with you.
PS: How do you hope to leave your mark on the world? How do you hope to be remembered?
VB: All that really matters to me is my family so I want to be remembered as a good mother and wife. Professionally I would like to be the person who made women look and feel beautiful and confident.

On her life at home: “Our house is a really happy house. There are kids running around and laughing and joking, I smile so much more than people would think. There’s nothing better than being in LA with my kids, cooking dinner with my husband and having a romantic night in, and I get an email, and Demi Moore, Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Blake Lively, or whoever it is, is doing the red carpet and wearing my dress.”
On Oprah wearing a dress from her collection: “I was so proud, I rang my mum.”
On being comfortable in her own skin: “For the first time, I feel like what you see is what you get. This is me: the more natural hair, the slightly more relaxed way of dressing. I feel really content personally and professionally. I’m not freaked out about getting older. I’m growing older with the most amazing man I’ve ever met - with my soul mate. Life’s great.”
On her love for the USA: "I'm very proud to be English, but I feel that I've been slightly adopted by America. I love the culture, the attitude. I mean, God, I believe in the American dream! We like the fact that there are people in L.A. who are way more famous than we are."
On her fitness regimen: "I'm not one of those people who can't eat carbs. I eat a lot. I do. I run four miles a day on the treadmill. I know that works for me, so I've kind of trained myself."
