for any complex formatting Word is definitly the way to sad to say, its not that bad of an app, although it is filled with bloat....
Pages is stong because of its templates, but its not good for making documents from scratch, if it improved in this area i would stick to it, but the UI definitly needs some work, toolbars and palettes need to be used more effectively and perhaps a bit more customization of the two would help a bit
for now i guess ill be typing up my poetry in Word

I haven't used the TomTom one, but this one works beautifully. I just used it going home from work to test it out...it really works seamlessly. I tried searching around from some local businesses that aren't too well known, and it found them all. Amazing. My friends TomTom standalone device wouldn't have found half of these places without $100 yearly software/maps upgrade....awesome.

Single source hardware is an asset to server reliability, not a detriment. Compare linux uptimes to AIX, Solaris, or HPUX, and there's no contest. Having 1 company on the hook for everything helps make things run way more smoothly. The trend towards linux in the data center is a detriment that mirrors wall street, with short term costs overruling long term benefit.
That's debatable. Apple's reputation in business/enterprise support has never been stellar. Meanwhile, Google literally Velcro together their server farms, using cheap hardware that is vulnerable to failure at single points but is collectively resilient and efficient.
These are extreme ends of the spectrum that I'm using as examples, though.
Fuentes de energiaThere are two things going on here, that are very different:
Apple cannot own the word "pod." Sorry guys, you built your brand on a regular 'ol common word. Apple derived a benefit from using an existing word as part of their product name and they can't just turn that around and take the whole damn word for themselves. They could have called it the "iKerbock" you know, and they'd now own "kerbock." But then, they wouldn't have sold as many iKerbocks as iPods, I'd bet.
However, iPod is Apple's word and they should clearly be able to stop people from using it, especially in an mp3 playing context.
podcast - public domain word
iPodcast - infriges on Apple's trademark.
To put it another way: If Apple can decide to own the word pod, what other words can be owned?

Lucky you.
5D, not so much.
Could be that the 400D came with the latest software. Have you tried getting an update from the Canon website (DPP 2.2 etc). I can PM you the version numbers of the various utilities later on if you want?

I'm obviously missing something obvious - where is the text of the cease and desist letter. Is it contained in one of the links in the original article?

Schmidt-"what about the new mbps?
Jobs-"not to worry"
FYI-that is not a turtleneck.
fotos fuentes de energía 1I'm back to word now and it has grown on me some because of the comments ability, simple thesaurus/dict, and is compatible with reference software. However, it is very slow (almost unbearable) on my stock 256mb ibook. And more importantly it does not handle figures and table nearly as well as Pages. Consequently I do most of my typing in word and then work with my figures and table in pages and include them as a separate PDF. I also have Mellel which is also nice if I just want to write smoothly without any distractions.
And iwork is worth the price just for keynote. However, why doesn't keynote have a way to dim bulleted lists once you have gone over an individual bullet. I am envious of powerpoint only for this feature.
Thanks

fuentes de energia electricaAre you sure it is just PDF's? I think the location downloaded documents (of all types) are saved is a function of the web browser, not the application that opens each document. I know that Safari defaults its downloads to the desktop, so maybe Mozilla does the same. Check the preferences to set where you want downloaded documents to save.

Fuentes de EnergíaI'll take the Fonz mantra here: If you're cool, you know it and don't have to tell everyone. I think the guy that wrote that article is probably a moron in a depressed state trying to make himself feel better.
JOEG4?The guy is not a moron,he know what he wrote.Let us respect ourselves here.To call someone a moron is not good,I think you should apologize to the guy in question

BTW.... Word and Excel are the only two applications from MS I like... and others are right. Pages and Numbers can't hold a candle to Office... yet.
But I have always found it annoying that many times while trouble shooting or surfing MS web site you're constantly reminded you're not running the latest version of Windows. Subtle marketing I guess?

FUENTES DE ENERGÍANot at all. As I said, I have no inclination for either Joe or RATM, or most chart music in general to be honest. I just thought the 'campaign' was pathetic, and still do.
It will be interesting to see what gets played more on the radio over the next week. I have a feeling it won't be RATM, which will indicate how pathetic and meaningless this whole 'campaign' has been. This is what I have been getting at all along. Someone will need to let me know though as I don't listen to the radio much either.
Oh... grow up would you. Don't take your bat and ball home. It's a bit of fun, a bit of a chuckle, a bit of rebellion over the xfactor. Just because RATM have won, doesn't mean that the xfactor is going to be axed and Simon Cowell is going back to his Mr Blobby days.
If anything, this has helped the music industry, the thought of actually rebelling against the conveyer belt "machine" being the xfactor has actually inspired people to buy music, getting more people interested in the competition and reducing music piracy. People have supported who they want to win by buying the songs, unlike before, where a few thousand people would buy Joe's song, and the xfactor would win. If anything, Simon Cowell should be happy that there has been an interest in his and RATM's song.

Funny thing, my wife and I were discussing first gen iPad earlier this morning. I told her how Apple had the 16gb refurbished for $349 but that they were sold out. Fast forward four hours or so and I see this story on MacRumors. We both agreed we should jump on this deal. I immediately began calling a few stores in the LA area. Lucky for me, the rep says he has a couple 16gb models remaining. I tell the rep I'll be there within the hour and I hop in the car and drive the 20 miles to the store. Imagine how I felt when he tells me they're all out and that they put 32gb models where 16gb should be. I was livid, but I held my composure and called another store about 10 miles away. I told them my story and insisted they hold it with my name.
When the rep at the second store came out with the box, the first thing he tells me is, "You want a 64gb, right?" I could feel my pulse rising. And then he said, "Just kidding." All I could do was smile, because he got me good and because I just saved 40% off an iPad and didn't even have to use GEICO.
I think Woz was trying to please the audience a little with that response as he was aware they are tech savy and knew he couldnt get away with praising it as a revolutionizing device. So i think his response was a good one.

Could you post some screen shots? I might need to get tiger now....
do you think these updated macbooks will have a true video card and not an intergrated one?
I'd assume still an integrated one? no evident, just a feeling... i just don't see apple to upgrade macbook that much yet.. i mean, it was updated a lot from ibook so..

For what it is worth I plan on TRYING to write lab reports with Pages this quarter. We'll see how they go. But I'll make a template of the basic report and just Change thing in it to make them unique. I think it should work.
