Guess it is a simple question.

What does a soft LUD mean ? I have often read that term on the forum.

I at times see that something was updated on my case..."last updated date" but then there is no status update.....for example this happened on my I131 application on Feb 4, 2009

On the I485 I think it is just that they transferred it from one office to another as the status says.

As Silverlight is a browser side technology, you would have no problem serving Silverlight content from our servers as long as you add the proper MIME type settings to the site via .htaccess rules such as:


AddType application/xaml+xml .xaml
AddType application/x-silverlight-app .xap

Examples are JPG, HTML, EXE.

It is advised to set the content type appropriately when you serve a file from your webserver by modiftying your htaccess file. To be honest, you can get away without setting this for all the popular browsers from my experience, but it might affect caching or obscure browsers negatively. There could be other implications, but none that I'm aware of.

Since Silverlight xap archives are a very new type, 90% of servers probably aren't configured to serve this filetype by default, so they're advising you to modify your htaccess file and *** that type.

Can I apply for 485 and then travel abroad, without getting advance parole?

I am on H1B and must travel to India to take care of a sick parent and would like to apply for 485 and then travel abroad....will this jeopordize my greeen card process?

Wait time for spouse to get a green card as a derivative from you would be apporximately 5 years since you already have your green card now. the best option is to wait for to get your US citizenship and them apply for your spouse and in that case the max. wait time os only 3-6 months. Hoep this helps.

Forgive me if this sounds rudimentary. It's only recently that i've become aware of the nuances of the whole GC process along with the mind-boggling delays.

Here are my qstns:
Is it ok to have 2 concurrent LCs filed from different employers only one of whom i am employed with, (the idea is that the first one that get's approved will be used for the 140 and/or 485 and the other withdrawn)?
Does it constitute a conflict of interest?
Or is the conflict only in the I-485 stage?

Does it cause any complications with LC or I-140?

Have any of you had to do this?

I have a pending I-485.
My case was file in jan 02. I have approved labour and I-140. I filed my I-485 in Jun 2005 and have an EAD and parole. How do I find when can I file my spouse's case.

You PD has to be current to file I-485 for you spouse/dependent. Since you filed for I-485 in Jun '05, and based on ur PD, i guess ur case must be EB2. If EB2, then you are in a better position alteast compared to many folks here.. The PD for Mar '06 per DOS, Visa Bulletin, for EB2 is 01JAN02, Since your case has a PD of Jan 02, (Date not provided by you),

Watch for April VISA BULLETIN, The DOS publishes this ususally sometime in first 2 weeks of each month for the following month. If the Date moves forward you should be able to file sometime in April, assuming the Date moves forward. Also you can use this time to prepare the application.

how is it possible to change jobs while the GC application is pending (part of the July 07 madness). Supposedly there is the AC21 form, is there an example how this form should be filled, and what other documents should be included? How long does it take to approve? (for driver's license, traveling, etc.). Does it have to be filed with H1B extension?

The new job offer is 25% pay increase, otherwise very similar, could that be a problem?

It depends on what your status is and which stage of the immigration process you are stuck in.........
As the other member pointed out, you could ask the attorney - IV holds these calls free every week...

You have to be "in-status" to apply for AOS. The IO wants evidence of your continued non-immigrant status before you filed your AOS. Also, remember AOS does not grant you a status. It just lets you not accrue unlawful presence

started following IV after my friend told me about it. got some useful info and really admire the time members put to answer queries. this is my post and I hope I get some info here. my hubby is looking to relocate to south FL so we both can live and work in same place. he did get couple offers - one from a insurance firm and another from a software company - Citrix. looks like first one will only do EB-3 although the position requires 5+ years exp. does anyone know if Citrix does GC under EB-2 ?

Our attorney prepared and filed our (mine and my wife's) 485, EAD and AP in July 2007.
We received our EAD and AP in 2007 and they are about to expire.
We are currently planning to renew our EAD and AP and wanted to apply on our own this time.

In that context, we requested for a copy of our application forms from the attorney.
We never got to verify the filled application forms until now (the attorney sent us only the pages to be signed at the time of filing)

To our surprise, we figured out the following mistakes in the application forms:
1) My I-94# in 485 and EAD application forms was wrongly mentioned. But I had my A# correct and it matches with the one on my EAD.
2) My wife's date of last entry in US was wrongly mentioned in 485 and EAD.
3) My mother's name was misspelled (a letter was missing from her first name)

I am not sure how bad the above mistakes are.

Here are my concerns now:

1) Are I-94# and last entry date used during namecheck or any other phase during the overall process? We didnot travel outside US since we applied 485. What if we travelled (the I-94 and last entry dates would have anyways changed).
Do we need to update these details explicitly after every travel? How important is it to get these details corrected in our applications?

2) If we apply for renewal of EAD and AP with the correct details this time, is it going to be fine? Do we still need to get them fixed in our 485?
OR
Will it be a problem for renewal because the details are different from the original application?

3) What is the procedure to follow in this situation?

Any advice in this matter is greatly appreciated.

If L1 quits the job (for what ever reason) and any change in status such as L1 to Fi etc; will automatically invalidates the L2. Meaning L2 status NO LONGER valid

I applied AP online successfully by paying with my credit card. At the end when i get to the confirmation page, my PDF download did not include the i-131 application but only the confirmation number. I thought i should be ok and i sent all the required documents. I cannot add the LIN number to my case status portfolio as it says "Case cannot be found as it is not entered". My credit card has been charged. I received confirmation that they got my documents but i cannot check my case status online.

Did anyone faced such issue.

OP doesn't seem to know what s/he is talking about. Immigration 101 class is being offerred. Just spend time on the forum.

In G-325, there is one column for "Applicant's residence last five years".

For me, I have not submitted my current address by filing AR-11 form. This G-325 is asking my present address plus last addresses. So what should I do? Do I need to send them AR-11 form too?

You are thinking too much. Just give them past addresses. Do not make it complicate. They are just asking for record purposes. They may verify with credit bureaus if they want to investigate further.
