My buddy posted this (http://noeruiz.com/white-iphone-4-not-thicker/), and I tried to tell Engadget -- they wouldn't hear it.

Kind of ridiculous.

It is amusing, because it was clear from the first photograph claiming a thickness difference was taken on an angle that simply made the white iPhone look thicker.

Was pretty clear that was all it was. Firs thing I thought is why did they not take the photo head on and level like your friend did.

It's clear that some iPhone 4s are thicker. (see engadget photo)

That new engadget picture with a piece of glass and some spacer in it is not evidence of different thicknesses. it involves so many different pieces of materials it is not something that should be considered accurate.

Why can't engadget afford actual calipers. They can't be that expensive.

As for the TiPB pictures, I have been staring at them for the last few minutes, and I can't even determine if they know how to use the calipers or what measurments they are comparing to each other.

The original ads featured Justin Long as "Mac" and John Hodgman as "PC". Recent reports (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061109011718.shtml) have claimed that Justin Long will no longer be in future Get a Mac ads.

that almost makes me feel bad for selling a 16gb wi-fi only for $375 last week. Oh well...i'm over it.

I'm still trying to decide if I love it or hate it! It's beautiful, yet ugly ... all at once. I definitely see all 4 elements -- another nice contrast. I think it would have done well in the surreal contest we just had.

It'd probably work for the next contest theme "Beauty in unexpected places", too.

So Apple is probably already compatible with its USBA to 30 pin adaptor cable, and if not then a supplied Micro USB to 30 pin would be fine.

what you non AT&T people don't seem to understand is that your carrier has cheap rates because it has less subscribers and less popular devices...if and when iPhone comes to Teen-Mobile or sprint you will see those unlimited data plans disappear and tiered data in it's place

Gotta agree. Once these companies experience data usage from iPhone owners they'll realize tiered plans make more sense. AT&T had unlimited txt plans pre-iPhone too.

Also how does an analyst's note count as true rumor anyway. These guys are always wrong. They know jack. If it was up to them iPhone 4 would have come out in 2009 and my iPad would be baking cookies right now.

He has removed the "Apple is paying me too much money stuff", condensed his statement about the Mac ads, talks a lot about Bruce Willis and his new Die Hard 4 dilm he is working on, and has cleaned up the formatting a bit (he uses linefeeds now).

Are you people seriously applauding this? What a waste of our tax dollars!! I do contracts with the Navy every single day and I know that the technology that they have will not be benefited by the use of iPad/iPod/iPhone. The military does not offer wi-fi to their staff on base. Everything is hard wired and the conduit is sealed with a tamper proof silicon. The Government is very very particular about their SIPRnet (as they call it). Without wi-fi, what use is the iPad for the military other than to give them a little treat and waste our tax dollars? They already have mobile equipment in the vehicles that is far superior to Apple's products.

In the 1980's my company won a $1 million contract to deliver networked 3D color graphic computers (100 computers on 10 LANs). The computers were used for war games and training at the Army College of Command and Control at Ft. Leavenworth, KS*... across the wide Missouri...

This was before color Macs were available, so we used a 68000-based computer from another mfg..

These were used in officer training.

The computers and networks had no special security or "hardening" for the military... quite the opposite, the equipment was required to be available "off-the-shelf".

All of the stuff we struggled to do on computers costing $10,000 each (roughly $50,000 each in todays dollars), is easily within the capability of a $500 WiFi only iPad (Except the ability to run CoBOL programs).

The point is that if the Military can save taxpayer dollars, while improving their capabilities, without sacrificing security... they'd be remiss in their duty to this country.

I wish someone would inform people that it's their responsibility to be informed consumers AND parents. My kid racked up $380 in cell downloads in one month. I didn't need my senator to step in. I took away her phone for a month, blocked her ability to purchase ANYTHING on it, and worked out the bill with my provider (AT&T) who practically wiped it all away. it took 10,000 pictures (99%) in auto setting, on my Canon T1i, to learn that my pictures sucks, and now I using Av, and have learned lots about f/stops, and lenses, photos are now starting to look better, learning buy seeing other pictures and how they did it.

Learned that iPhoto has nothing magical about it.

I am not big on post processing unless I want HDR or tilt-shift. I do very little modification.

Actually a vast majority of normal mac owners (not the geeks and fans who visit the mac sites) don't update their OS as often as you think. It's nice to know that for the same price of 1 copy of Windows XP Pro, you can get a 5-lisenced family pack of Mac OS X.

Microsoft has not beat Apple as far as a 64bit consumer OS goes. Name one consumer chip that is 64bit. Thank you. Carry on.

Also, I think NT is limited to 4 processors unless they have updated that recently. Clustering is not the same as a multi-processor machine. Unix scales better than NT, just deal with it. Apple could easily make a rack server that had 16 processors, with a kick arse OpenGL card and teach SGI a lesson. They don't have the market for that though...yet!

they need to protect the product brand name POD from being brought down in value by companies like PODFITNESS and others, that use their name in it.

Pardon my ignorance. I've never used a server before, but now that it is being opened up for free in Lion, is this something that I could benefit from? What can it be used for from average home consumers?
