thank you for replying! but i think im doing it wrong. i tried to follow the link you had but its not working for me. can you please help walk me through it or anyone else who wants to help me? i started up my mac with the mac os x dvd and went to the disk utility but my bootcamp partition wasnt allowing me to repair it ( grayed out options ).

Just called around some more, it seems they have the base 27" iMac for $1615 and in stock in several locations.

The top stock 27" iMac isn't in stock anywhere near me (Austin, TX), but it is on sale for $1899, and you can order it online.

I've got my name on a base 27" iMac, and look forward to picking it up after work!

Technically you can't return a digital download so they would in effect be giving it to you free hence the lack of refunds.

It is the same reason retailers don't have to offer refunds on CDs, DVDs or Games (at least in the UK). You can quite easily buy the CD or whatever, rip it and then return it and get it for free.

Yes. Each "jam pack" has dozens or hundreds of instruments and many, many "loops". Loops are performance fragments a few bars long.

These are cost effective but don't compete with the quality of a good specialized single instrument from a third party. Start with one of these

Another way to get a large number of instruments is to buy NI's "Kontakt" or even to download the free version. But Kontakt adds yet another layer of user interface and has a learning curve. Apple's jam packs are transparent as all they do is make some of the menu selections in GB or Logic longer.

Ok, so I decided to buy SL 10.6 and a new HDD, but does anyone know if I have to first setup the new drive with the original disks 10.5 that came with the uMB, or can I just use SL 10.6? I also have the application disk with iLife 09 which I know I can instal after the OS.

When Apple sells SL do they include any other drivers and software so that I can just install using the SL disk?

This may sound totally obvious, but spend time on YouTube. There are a lot of folks people your age doing cool stuff and putting it on YouTube (Lucas Cruikshank aka "Fred" being one obvious, and rather obnoxious, example). Not all of it is good, and some of it is frankly terrible, but you quickly get a sense of what's cool and what's not (for example, YouTube seems to have popularized the disjointed jump cut.) You can take inspiration from the stuff that's done well, and learn from the bad stuff too by taking note of what they did wrong and how you would have done it differently.

But the OS version on the MBP and the backup should be at least the version the Mac mini comes with, which should be 10.6.6.

Also take a look at rsync or ChronoSync if you want to use both Macs and want to have the data in sync.

Nice! Was it hard to make? Do you have any fillings in there? If it's even a bit loose, it may sway while carrying it and wood is pretty tough so it could get dents or scratches.

It would have been nice to put OS X on my fairly new 1.3 AMD, or even the 1.6 P4 at work (if nothing else than to save the TORTURE that was my Win98/2000 install from HELL, freakin' M$. Now I can Crash twice as fast!). But we know that won't be happening anytime soon.

Can't wait to get a new Mac to replace my old one (that I no longer have BTW) after I move. Maybe a nice Cool (pun intended) iBook (c'mon 1 GHz G3 + 32 MB vid card), or an eMac to play with untill I can afford a new Tower. Who knows what we'll have by then?

Do you happen to have an Apple remote? You can bring up the boot loader by holding play during boot.

EDIT: 7-zip can get you into a pkg file.

The size of neither HDD has any effect on the outcome, only the size of the actual backup. If you have a backup of 150GB, then it will take roughly 150GB on the 320GB HDD and the other 170GB will be there for you to use.

On a fully updated install of 10.4.3 on my latest rev iBook, I have never seen myspace freeze. I was going to use firefox until I found out that when I visited myspace in firefox CPU usage spiked. For some reason it doesn't do that in safari, so until that changes, I'm staying with safari.

But the point of all this was, I have no problems at all on safari.

I do not have WMP installed, therefore I get that plugin not found message, I just hit cancel, never once has myspace frozen on me.

Mine are sorted into 5 genres and then use groupings as a kind of sub genre.

Anything that has a featured artist is put into the comments field (I think it looks so much cleaner than if it's "Song Name (Ft. Some Artist)")

All Bonus Tracks, B-Sides and Music Videos are set to Disc 2 and have no track number and are unchecked so they don't carry on playing once the album is finished. They also have comments saying which single the B-Side came from etc.

As much as I love iTunes I find it quite frustrating as it could be so much better. I'd love to be able to tag each song with multiple genres, as you said it can be hard to lump them into one category. And I wish you could "tag" a song with a music video, so instead of having two entries for "The Dead Dog", you'd just have the song within the album and have the little video icon on the right, which you'd click if you want to watch the video (if that makes sense!) :D

And while I'm at it... year, record label, and country of origin in the album artwork column please :P

I second the heater function. The only problem I have is it takes some time to warm up. Yeah...that's in the room I SLEEP in.
